See the cost per order, month and year, the price that covers it, and what you'd keep on orders placed with you directly.

How to pay Grubhub less

  • Read your statement, not the plan page

Promotions, refunds, tablets and ads add up. Your monthly statement shows what Grubhub really took.

  • Price your app menu on its own

Many restaurants list higher prices on delivery apps than in store. Check Grubhub's rules first: some pickup rates require the same prices.

  • Compare the cost per order

A cheaper plan with less visibility can cost more per order once you add the promotions you need to be seen.

  • Turn app guests into regulars

Put a card with your QR code menu in every bag. Guests who reorder from you directly pay no commission.

FAQ

Questions about QR code menus

How much does Grubhub charge restaurants?

Grubhub's pricing page lists a marketing commission of 5% on Basic, 15% on Plus and 20% on All-access, plus a delivery fee from 10% when Grubhub's couriers deliver. Payment processing comes on top: merchants commonly report 3.05% + 30¢ an order.

How do I work out what a delivery app costs per order?

Add the commission on the order, the payment fee if there is one and the promotions you fund, then spread any monthly fee over your orders. The calculator does it from your numbers and shows the share of your sales it adds up to.

How much should I raise prices on Grubhub?

Divide your price by what is left after the percentage fees. With a 30% commission, a dish at 20 needs about 28.57 to leave you 20: that is 43% more, not 30%. The calculator shows the price for your average order.

Are the rates in the calculator up to date?

They come from Grubhub's pricing page, checked on the date under the results. Rates change by city, contract and promotion, so type in the ones from your own contract or statement.

How do direct orders compare?

On a direct order you pay your card fee and, if you deliver, your courier. With Acuolina, guests order from your own menu and pay you directly, with no commission per order. The calculator counts a card fee and the Acuolina plan you would need.
